PRISM is seeking a Workers' Compensation Specialist/Sr. Workers' Compensation Specialist to join their team in Folsom, CA. The role involves managing a caseload of excess workers’ compensation claims, including complex and catastrophic claims.
About the Role
As a Workers' Compensation Specialist/Sr. Workers' Compensation Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing claims processes in both Primary and Excess Workers’ Compensation Programs. Your duties will include reviewing claims for appropriate medical care, reserves, and reimbursement, as well as providing recommendations for claim strategies and resolutions. You will also assist PRISM members and TPA staff with claims discovery and settlement, maintain a caseload of open claims, and participate in professional development and training.
About You
Required:
Understanding of California Workers’ Compensation laws and familiarity with excess and pooled risk programs.
Minimum of 3 years of experience handling California workers’ compensation claims for Specialist level or 5 years for Sr. Specialist level.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field for Sr. Specialist level.
Preferred:
California Self-Insurance Plans Certificate.
Experience working with public agencies or joint powers authorities (JPAs).
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
