State of South Carolina is seeking a Wildland Firefighter to join their team in Hampton County, SC. The role involves performing fire protection duties, including fire prevention and suppression, and operating heavy mechanized equipment.
About the Role
As a Wildland Firefighter, you will respond to forest fire calls, perform fire suppression duties, maintain fire suppression equipment, and assist with various forestry services. You will also participate in training, prepare administrative reports, and support the agency's mission and goals.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma and experience in forest fire protection duties, forestry management, or operation of heavy mechanized equipment.
- Must pass the agency’s initial physical fitness test.
- Must obtain firefighter registration with the Office of State Fire Marshal.
- Position requires a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) prior to employment.
Preferred:
- Ability to lift, walk, squat, climb and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of practices and principles of forest fire control.
- Ability to operate heavy mechanized firefighting equipment.
