Summary
Starr Insurance is seeking an Underwriter - Primary Construction to join their team in Chicago, IL. The role involves developing business plans, implementing underwriting strategies, and building client relationships in the construction sector.
About the Role
As an Underwriter - Primary Construction, you will be responsible for developing regional business plans, achieving premium goals, and establishing relationships with retail brokers and clients. Your daily tasks will include adhering to underwriting guidelines, preparing quotes and binders, and conducting self-audits. You will also be expected to report forecasts to the Home Office and assist in developing underwriting support staff.
About You
Required:
- Two to three years of multiline primary casualty and/or construction underwriting experience.
- Solid broker/agent relationships and expertise in underwriting construction accounts.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge in computer applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
- Experience in marketing and production reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership and time management skills.
- General knowledge of Insurance and Finance.
