Summary
DLR Group is seeking a Theater Planner to join their Theater Design Team in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves assisting in the design of performance venues and related equipment systems from planning through construction and post-opening services.
About the Role
As a Theater Planner and Systems Designer at DLR Group, you will support needs assessment and early project planning efforts, provide theatrical design guidance on mechanical, structural, and electrical requirements, and assist senior staff with project design reviews and documentation.
About You
Required:
- 2-5 years of experience in theater consulting, performance equipment systems design, or related field.
- Degree from a 4-year college program in theater, engineering, architecture, or related field.
- Proficiency in the use of Revit and/or AutoCAD; Revit is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of typical theatrical production practice.
- Basic knowledge of performance-related equipment systems such as theatrical lighting, rigging, audience seating, etc.; strong knowledge of at least one system preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong computer, research, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with an ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred:
- A basic understanding of building systems and construction techniques.
- Direct experience at a professional or university level with performance production.
- ETCP certification a plus but not required.
