United Veterinary Care is seeking a full-time Surgery Assistant to join their team at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Buzzards Bay, MA. The role involves supporting surgeons and veterinary nurses in providing quality veterinary care.
About the Role
As a Veterinary Surgery Assistant, you will be a key member of the hospital team, responsible for ensuring the safety of pets and clients while assisting with surgical procedures. Your daily tasks will include running pre-surgical blood work, setting up and cleaning the surgical suite, sterilizing instruments, restraining pets for treatments, and maintaining cleanliness in treatment areas and labs.
About You
Required:
Previous surgical veterinary experience or 6 months experience in a veterinary hospital.
Ability to lift and restrain pets of at least 50 pounds and work on your feet most of the day.
Ability to learn various veterinary software programs effectively.
Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately.
Attention to detail to provide high patient care.
Excellent communication skills.
Professional and engaged demeanor.
Preferred:
Associate degree in veterinary technology or certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program.
