Summary
Flex-N-Gate is seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to join their Advanced Product Development team in Grand Rapids, MI, with the possibility of working from Allen Park and traveling once a week.
About the Role
As an Optical Engineer, you will design and develop optical systems for forward and signal lighting, understand customer optical requirements, and ensure compliance with legal standards for North American and European markets. You will also work on headlamp development, including Low Beam and High Beam systems, and collaborate with various teams in CAD, Electronics, and Manufacturing.
About You
Required:
- Minimum 5 years in headlamp development.
- Minimum 5 years in signal lighting development.
- Minimum of BS in Optics, Physics, Electronics or related field.
- Proficient in CAD software like Catia.
- Proficient in Optical Software like LucidShape, Zemax, CodeV.
- Experience with light measuring devices like Goniometer and spectral radiometer.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in a production plant setup.
- Basic understanding of tooling parameters, injection molding, and assembly.
- Ability to identify industry trends and develop technologies.
