About the Role
As a Meter Reader I, you will be responsible for accurately recording water meter readings, entering data into an electronic device, and performing general clerical duties. The position requires physical ability to walk long distances and perform field assignments with minimal supervision.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Florida Driver License.
- Some knowledge of the geography and street locations of the City.
- Ability to write legibly.
- Ability to make simple arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public.
- Physical ability to perform duties which entail walking all day under varying climatic conditions.
Preferred:
- Ability to learn the operation of meters and gauges used in recording water consumption.
- Ability to learn the operation of an electronic hand-held meter reading device.
- Ability to perform field assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to keep simple records and submit accurate reports of field inspections.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to walk 4-5 miles per day.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to lift and handle items weighing up to 30 pounds.
