WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Lead Environmental Scientist to support their Connecticut operations in Glastonbury and Shelton, CT. The role involves providing high-level technical assistance for environmental projects and ensuring compliance with regulations.
About the Role
As a Lead Environmental Scientist, you will scope, budget, and manage environmental projects, including Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments. You will prepare proposals, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct investigations, oversee cross-functional teams, and provide environmental risk assessments. Your responsibilities will also include developing Health and Safety Plans, coordinating with clients and agencies, and engaging in business development.
About You
Required:
- Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related life sciences field.
- 7 to 10 years of experience working as an environmental professional.
- Expertise with State and Federal protection regulations and consulting processes.
- Experience in conducting Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments.
- Established experience coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrated experience leading and reviewing environmental science technical reports.
- Highly capable self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Proficiency with technical writing and office automation software.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
Preferred:
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
