WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Junior Transmission Line Design Engineer to join their Power & Energy team at their client's office located in Rochester, NY, with additional locations considered. The role involves contributing to transmission line design projects and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
About the Role
As a Junior Transmission Line Design Engineer, you will be responsible for conductor selection, structure recommendations, insulation studies, line design, and data analysis. You will assist in leading overall transmission line design for capital projects, review design documents, and ensure timely delivery of design packages while coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
About You
Required:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or closely related degree from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 1-3 years post education experience, preferably in Transmission Line Design with voltages up to 115 kV HVAC.
- Knowledge of codes and standards such as NESC, AISC, IEEE and ANSI.
- Experience with Finite Element modeling within PLS-CADD, POLE, & TOWER, and familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
