Summary
Compass Housing Alliance is seeking an Evening Counselor at Men's Shelter to join their team in Seattle, WA. The role involves milieu management and engaging guests in a direct social service housing program.
About the Role
As an Evening Counselor, you will be responsible for managing the living environment while providing direct social services to guests. Your duties will include engagement, intake, assessment, advocacy, crisis intervention, and light housekeeping tasks. You will work in a supportive environment aimed at helping individuals transition out of homelessness through a combination of shelter and on-site support services.
About You
Required:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service.
Preferred:
- At least 1 year of experience in a social/human service setting.
- Awareness and/or training around belonging, compassion, and meeting people where they are.
- Current WA State Food Handlers Permit.
- Familiarity with topics of housing instability, mental health, substance use, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence.
- Experience working in an environment where language may be a barrier.
- A degree in human/social services or related field.
