Opportunities, Inc. is seeking an Employment Specialist to join their team in Lanham, MD. The role involves providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their pursuit of competitive employment.
About the Role
As an Employment Specialist, you will work closely with job seekers to create personalized employment plans based on their interests and skills. Your responsibilities will include engaging with community employers, facilitating job tryouts and shadowing, preparing vocational profiles, and supporting individuals in developing interview skills. You will also coordinate with the Employment Services Manager to ensure comprehensive support for job development and placement.
About You
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED required, associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience providing employment services to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
Preferred:
- Completion of ACRE supported or customized employment certificate program, and/or the Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) exam.
- Familiarity with Montgomery County and/or Prince George's County activities and resources.
