Summary
The Hartford is seeking a Director Software Engineering to join their team in Charlotte, NC. The role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of the Claims application ecosystem, driving modernization and operational excellence.
About the Role
As the Director Software Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions for Claims operations. Your responsibilities include managing application development, mentoring a cross-functional team, overseeing architecture and design decisions, collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring adherence to best practices, driving system performance improvements, managing vendor relationships, and monitoring budgets and timelines.
About You
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with ASP.Net C#, MS SQL, Angular (SPA).
- Good experience with AWS Cloud services like CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, Lambda.
- Proven track record of managing distributed teams and delivering complex projects in an Agile environment.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
- Deep understanding of Claims processes and systems in the Insurance industry.
- Experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automation.
- Familiarity with security and compliance standards in the insurance domain.
- Prior experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud-native architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (Preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field).
