Southend Pharmacy is seeking a Compounding Formulation Specialist to join their team in Houston, TX. The role involves developing, testing, and optimizing sterile and nonsterile formulations in compliance with USP guidelines.
About the Role
As a Compounding Formulation Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing formulations, conducting pre-formulation studies, preparing detailed formulation records, performing analytical testing, ensuring compliance with regulations, troubleshooting formulation challenges, and contributing to R&D reports and quality documentation.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s or other advanced degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical compounding, with a focus on sterile and nonsterile dosage forms.
- Proven experience with sterile technique, aseptic processes, and the use of primary engineering controls.
- At least one year of prior experience in a 503A or 503B compounding setting.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for compounded preparations.
- Familiarity with USP <797>, <795>, <800> and 503A pharmacy requirements.
- Proven knowledge of excipients, buffers, preservatives, and drug stability.
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- A demonstrated aptitude for experimental design and execution.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced dosage forms.
- Previous experience in technology transfer, moving formulations from a laboratory setting to a production environment.
