Summary
Fauquier County Government - Human Resources is seeking a Chief of Planning to join their team in Warrenton, VA. The role involves managing the Planning Division and overseeing various aspects of urban planning and community development.
About the Role
As the Chief of Planning, you will be responsible for the management and operation of the Planning Division within the Department of Community Development. This includes handling the County's Comprehensive Plan, coordinating reviews for current development projects, and providing oversight for historic preservation, transportation, and urban development/design work. You will engage in a variety of challenging cases and projects while ensuring the preservation of environmental and historic resources and encouraging economic development.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field.
- At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in land development review, urban design, and community outreach.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Supervisory experience.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in urban planning or a related field.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning.
- Experience in traditional town planning and design.
