Ambercare was founded by Michael and Mary Merrell in 1994, in the small town of Belen, New Mexico. The Merrells were keenly aware that high-quality, compassionate care for the homebound was not available at the time in their community. Mary, a registered nurse, watched as friends and neighbors suffered needlessly due to the lack of adequate care. Michael and Mary knew they could not ignore this, and Ambercare was born.
