Summary
Xperi Inc. is seeking an Applied LLM Engineer to join their Personalized Content Discovery Data Science team in Durham, NC. The role focuses on building and integrating large language model (LLM)-based solutions into internal tools and customer-facing applications.
About the Role
As an Applied LLM Engineer, you will design, test, and refine prompts for LLM-based applications, conduct data analysis and model evaluation, integrate LLM and GenAI APIs into internal products, develop lightweight backend services, and document systems and experiments clearly. You will work with various data sources and customer solutions across the entertainment and product engineering domain.
About You
Required:
- M.S. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering.
- Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and experimentation.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
- Comfort working with API integration and multi-modal data (text, JSON, metadata).
- Ability to run and evaluate open-source models both locally and in the cloud.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to share findings across teams.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with basic data engineering tools with emphasis on pyspark.
- Knowledge of vector search and retrieval techniques.
- Solid data science and statistical background.
